Zhi Qin Tan

   

I am a third year Ph.D student at King’s College London under academic supervision of Dr. Yunpeng Li and Prof. Owen Addison. My research interests lie in the intersection between trustworthy and multimodal AI, as well as their application in healthcare, specifically the dentistry domain.

I transferred from University of Surrey and was previously supervised by Dr. Yunpeng Li, Prof. Wenwu Wang and Dr. Xiatian Zhu, in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory under industrial supervision of Dr. Yuhui Luo and Dr Tony Mansfield. Prior to starting my Ph.D journey, I was a senior data scientist at Datium Insights and a part time research assistant at CISIP in Universiti Malaya.

Highlights

1. [2025.09] I won first place in each of the three tasks on Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan segmentation in the MICCAI 2025 Oral and Dental Image aNalysis (ODIN) challenges! Our work has been documented at U-Mamba2: Scaling State Space Models for Dental Anatomy Segmentation in CBCT and U-Mamba2-SSL for Semi-Supervised Tooth and Pulp Segmentation in CBCT.
2. [2024.10] Transferred my Ph.D to King's College London.
3. [2024.07] First paper in PhD "Bayesian Detector Combination for Object Detection with Crowdsourced Annotations" has been accepted at ECCV 2024. Please see the project page for more details.
4. [2024.06] Passed my Ph.D confirmation viva.
5. [2024.01] Presented my first Ph.D project, "Object Detection with Crowdsourced Annotations" at Bellairs Workshop on Machine Learning and Statistical Signal Processing for Data on Graphs held in the Bellairs Research Institute, Barbados.
